This time I have an excuse...

I haven't be writing, but ya wanna know why?

I had surgery, so I look and feel like hell,

Let these pictures illustrate:

Photobucket

Now I'm not gonna get into details of the surgery cause it is gross and long but basically I have kidney issues so they put a big old plastic tube in my kidney for 4 days and it makes it really hurt when I:

  1. Cough
  2. Laugh
  3. Burp
  4. Prance

So basically I can't do anything. And it sucks.

So I just wanted to let you know that I wasn't ditching you guys...

It just hurts to move.

But you are all in my heart still...

Just like that tube is in my kidney.

Now excuse me while I go back to sleep for another 4 hours.

xoxo

P.S. Yes I am wrapped in a leopard snuggie. What of it?!

Oh the news...

So today as I was perusing the different news websites I realized that other countries don't really play around with their news like we do.

Here are some screen shots from MSN and BBC.

See if you can notice the difference in the top headlines:

Here is BBC:
Iraq?! Earthquakes?! Boys?!

shocking.

Now here is MSN:

Pole Dancing Doll? Really?

I kinda see why people view Americans as Red-neck, sex crazed, right-winged, T.V. Junkies.

I mean, look at the top five "Hot Topics".

Geez America.

P.S. The Pole Dancing Doll sparked my fancy.

Surprised?

But....OMG guys it's ridiculous.

I will post about it soon.

Rant Alert: Dear Roland Emmerich:

You're an asshole.

Lemme rewind.

Ronland Emmerich is the director of the upcoming film 2012, which is claiming to be an accurate depiction of the events that are "going to happen" in December of 2012.

Now, I think all of this 2012 non sense is stupid and fanatic. The world is not going to end in 2012. Just like it didn't end in the year 2000, just like it didn't end on 6/6/06.

Propaganda.

I'm not worried about the actual world ending.

I am, however, worried about the affect all this non sense is beginning to have on the people around me.

One of the marketing campaigns of Emmerich's 2012 is an organization called the Institute for Human Continuity.
Basically, according to Assosiated Content the website is this:
"The Institute for Human Continuity (IHC) is a glossy looking website that one can access to pretend that the apocalyptic events predicted to occur in 2012 will in fact occur and that one can do something to secure one's survival. The Institute for Human Continuity (IHC) is the latest of the kind of Internet viral campaign that has become common to advertise things like upcoming films and TV shows."

Now let me explain.

Basically, the people who are making this movie are preying on people's fears about this upcoming date in order to make money on their film, by advertising this organization without explaining that it is in fact not a real company but in fact a piece from their film. Now, I will admit it is a smart campaign but it really irritates me. Here is why:

I guess I am just concerned about the crazy stuff people are going to do in preparation for this event. People do drastic things when they are scared, and I don't like the fact that this film is aiding in hyping up this event even more than it already is.

So bottom line: If you see commercials for the Institute for Human Continuity, don't worry, its just hollywood.
I just don't want people to stress.
Also, if God was going to end the world, I don't think he would want to tip everyone off with such a specific date. Mark 13 anyone?
"But of that day or hour, no one knows, neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Be watchful! Be alert! You do not know when the time will come." (Mark 13:32-33)

Now I know I am not the epitamy of the christian faith, but maybe someone who is concerned about this stuff will take some solace.

Just be be happy today and love the people in your life.

I love you all.

Sorry for the rant.

xoxo?

Am I Annoyed or am I Writers?

Hello my little Ponies in Cyber country.

I have an annoyance to share with all of you...

The song "Human"  by the Killers.

The lyrics make absolutely no sense you guys (Im talking to The Killers right now)

Lets review the lyrics of the chorus:

"Are we human?
Or are we dancer?
My sign is vital
My hands are cold
And I'm on my knees
Looking for the answer
Are we human?
Or are we dancer?"

Firstly....

What?! That doesn't make any sense.

Secondly:

Are you saying that Dancers aren't Human? Cause on the one hand I kind of agree but at the same time RUDE!

Thirdly (is that right?):

Why would you imply that you are using the word "Human" in the plural sense with the word "we" before it and then, in the next line, use the singular form of "Dancer" following the "we"?!

It isn't clever it's annoying!

Thats all.

Love your work Killers just work on your grammar.

Child Abuse has never been so fun: Toddlers & Tiaras

Ok, has anyone from Social Services seen this show?!

Its awful!

I mean child padgents are terrible as they are but why are we validating them by giving them a time slot?!

Do people know this is a reality show? This isn't like an episode of Big Love or something, this stuff is actually happening to these poor girls.

I dunno for sure but I think little girls already have self esteem issues without being paraded around like prized cattle and then judged against their peers.

Every little girl's dream right?

Here is a clip of the show for anyone who hasn't see it:

I just wanna buy a farm, adopt all these girls, take the vaseline off of their teeth and let them run free!

If you know anything about me then you probably know that I am obsessed with everything that Apple makes. Seriously Steve Wozniak could take his beard clippings, put them in an Apple box and I would buy them without even blinking an eye.

But I dunno how I feel about the new iPod Shuffle.

It is so wittle! They are describing it as smaller than a double A battery. How are you supposed to keep track of that?! I lose my car in parking lots! How am I supposed to keep track of a tic-tac sized iPod?

And forget about ever leaving the house with that thing. The second a wind kicks up you can kiss your iPod good bye.

Hope you bought the Apple Care.

On a related note, below I have posted the video explaining the features of the new shuffle. I always love the how to videos on the Apple site. The nerds that "actually work in one of the apple stores" are always so engaging in their performances. I have a hard time believing that they are retail cronies rather than trained actors. Take a look and decide for yourself.

You decide alone, but no one is alone

what? I dunno what that last part was.

Put the video camera down...

So I REALLY am not trying to offend anyone with this blog...honestly. But I have to rant about this cause it's been bothering me.

Just a disclaimer.

Ok. I cannot stand when someone decides to propose to their significant other, one of the most intimate and special memories you will have as a couple, and they decide to do it with all their friends and family around watching, video cameras in hand. Does that bother anyone else?!

I get that they want to be able to remember every single second of the event however I don't understand why they would want thirty people hovering around when they do it! And then why would you post it on youtube!?

It drives me Wiles!

That goes for proposing in public places as well. I just don't think you should do it! No sporting events, restaurants, theaters, family dinners and ESPECIALLY not on LIVE TV!

Here is an example of what can happen if you so foolishly choose to do something like this.

*warning, this is so painfully awkward I was squirming in my computer chair when I first watched it.

Ug...

Does anybody hate Chet from the Real World: Brooklyn like I do?

Cause I hate him.

He is the most obnoxious, closed minded, immature person I have been forced by an addiction to watch on TV. And that's saying something!

Chet is from Utah.

Most people in the world don't have the best opinion of Utahns.

Lemme say this: I know a lot of people from Utah, and a lot of them are pretty cool.

Chet, however, is probably the worst example of Utah that could possibly exist.

He is a hypocrite and I don't appreciate his awkward fashion sense.

That's all.

xoxo?

P.S.

Hey Chet, news flash, you're gay

I Blame Mercury...And Ikea...

So you from the post before this, you know that Mercury is in Retrograde. And I wrote an entire blog about how you shouldn't make any rash decisions or start any new projects during this time period.

Tonight, I foolishly decided to rearrange/clean my room/house.

This was probably the worst I idea I could have had. Why don't I take my own advice?!

Among a slew of other mini disasters, one definitely takes the cake. Here's what happened:

So I decided that the giant, 12 shelf book shelf in our entryway need to be moved to the center of the wall it was against. No one else was available to help me move it over but I figured since it is from Ikea it would be really light because it wasn't real wood. This is the result of me trying to move it by myself:

For anyone who can't tell from the picture the ENTIRE F-ING THING FELL APART! Books everywhere, splintered wood, the whole thing. I was ready to kill those damn Sweads!

So kids remember, don't take on a large project during retrograde.

PS

This took me like an HOUR to post because my computer is running so slow...yet another sign.

FoLK/DAK Drams...

As many of you might know I work at Disney World in Florida. Loves it. Good times.

Anywho.

As you may also know I do the High School Musical show at the Disney Studios on a pretty consistent basis. I also talk about it a lot as you can see from all the blogs I have posted concerning it. It's all I do with my time, what else am I gonna talk about?

Well, what many of you may NOT know is that I also know some other shows on property. One of which I do on a weekly (on Thursdays (which are my global sub days (that may or may not mean anything to you)) basis.

Yes everything Thursday I leave my life at the Hollywood Studios, hang up my Wildcat hoodie and trek over the the Animal Kingdom to do a show called The Festival Of The Lion King or FoLK for short (everything is an acronym around her cause we are way to lazy to finish our sente

So I am a stilt walker at FoLK and if you know me personally you know that I am not the biggest fan of the show. Stilts hurt my knees, I have no friends, the hours suck, the end.

But that, my friend, is for another blog. No, this blog is in fact about the DAK (Disney's Animal Kingdom) cast parking. One of my least favorite things about going to DAK is the cast member parking lot! I swear there is sorcery afoot in those lands! Everyday, I try to park my car in the same spot, so I can remember where I left it at the end of the day. But alas, 5:30 (or 10:30 according to when they decide to let us free) rolls around, I make the half mile journey back to the lot and my car is no where in sight!

I try to retrace my steps, look at the land marks, count the rows, and everytime there is no trace of it! I swear that parking lot is like hogwarts from Harry Potter or something. Everytime you leave the lot, all the cars switch places just for kicks. I wander the lot for 20 minutes, and then, suddenly it is right behind me, even though I JUST passed the space in is currently residing in.

And it is not just me either! Everyday I see Disney security gaurds drving some poor soul from row to row, searching desperatly for their vehicle. As I walk our eyes meet and I give them that look that says:

"I know how it is. Keep going, it'll turn up eventually."

So, moral of the story, if you are planning on parking in the DAK cast lot, heed my warning, and take a picture of where you parked.

Smart?

Lately at work, as I walk the thousand miles through the parking lot from my car to the cast building, I have been noticing a weird trend. In the past week, I have seen four "Smart Cars" sitting in parking spaces.

First of all...It is my understanding that theses little creatures cost a whole lotta moola. Like on the CEO level not the "I work at a theme park" level. Which is the first reason I was confused to be running into so many of them in the lot at the Hollywood studios.

Secondly, I understand that they are tiny so they take up less gas/parking space ect. I get that. But how safe can it be? I mean really. They are so wittle. What happens when you get into a tussle with a Hummer? It can't be pretty. It just doesn't seem logical to me! I don't even think I could fit in one! If you know me personally you know I am a pretty big guy, but even the average person might have problems getting into one of these babies. I took a picture next to one so you can see the comparison:

After looking at this picture I dunno if you get the full extent of how little these cars are. So I made a chart comparing the smart car to every day objects:

As you can see the smart car has no chance against Godzilla. It is about the size of his back toe thing. As far as King Kong goes, well it might fair a little better but still lets be real, it's King Kong and you are driving a match box car. Now I know this is a little far fetched because Godzilla only attacks like once every ten years but still. Look what happened to all the smart cars last time he did...

*note: I actually think this is a picture from an earthquake in San Fransisco but you get the gist.

¡Viva Pinata!

First things first, isn't this the scariest pinata you've ever seen?! Anywho.

So I recently bought a pinata at Target for a party we are going to have soon. Who doesn't love a good pinata? I know I do.

Anywho as I was stabbing the back of his neck (he's a pirate, I named him patchy) and filling him with candy I noticed the tag that came with him. It is full of warnings that I found to be pretty ridiculous/hilarious. I scanned the tag so you could see it. But I will list some of my favorites first:
  • First of all the company is called "Party Like Crazy". You can't go wrong with a name like that.
  • Under the "safety tips" section it says that when hitting the pinata that one is only to use an official pinata wacker (whatever that is) and never to use broom handles or wooden sticks. Now I have seen a lot of pinatas in my life and never once have I seen an official pinata "wacker". Broom handles are the way to go.
  • It also says to gently put down the official "wacker" before rushing into to get the candy. There is no stopping little kids (or drunk adults) when there is free candy on the ground.
  • Keep away from open flames. I haven't the faintest idea why but thats what it says
The back of the tab goes on to explain to anyone living under a rock how to play with the mysterious and complicated pinata. Here is the tag so you know I'm not making this stuff up:

On the same theme I tried to find this AWESOME commercial of this pinata attacking this kid. It was so funny. But alas I can't find it. Maybe it was deemed "inappropriate". In any case it's not there but I have a consolation prize that is pretty funny too.

Young Hollywood...

I have a question for all you 20-30 somethings out there: Does "Young Hollywood" make anybody else feel extremely unsuccessful? Sure they all have loads of problems ect. blah blah blah, but guess what? I have problems to, and so do you. The only difference is we make maybe a couple thousand dollars a year (maybe) and Miley Cyrus (who is 15 might I add) is worth $18.2 million US dollars.

I have four words to say to that: ARE YOU KIDDING ME!? When I was fifteen I never had more than 30 dollars to my name and I thought I was high rolling. What would a fifteen year old even do with $18.2 million dollars? When I saw that fact I thought to myself "If I was fifteen and had that much money what would I do with it?" So here is my list:

  1. Pay off all of my teachers so I would get A's in all my classes, even P.E.
  2. Speaking of PE, pay the school to put my Jr. High PE teacher in the stocks in the middle of the school so he could feel what public humiliation was like on the receiving end.
  3. Hire a group of people to caravan me (like they do in stereotyped situations of India) back and forth or wherever I fancy.
  4. Set aside a small amount of cash (only about 1.5 mil) for vending machine purposes.
  5. Buy a parrot and have it trained by a parrot whisperer to speak to me and only me.
  6. Officially change our school mascot (the falcons) to the Canyon View Meerkats.
  7. Give a lot of money to the theater dept. so our theater/sets would be awesome. As long as I was assured a major spot in anything that happened in the auditorium. Yes that includes assemblies and band concerts. A small throne on the side of the stage would do, as long as everyone rose when I entered/exited.
  8. Even though all the shirts look the same, buy every shirt Abercrombie & Fitch has ever made and have all the others destroyed. *note, this is me in eighth grade not now. Sorry Abercrombie, not really a fan anymore
  9. Have all classes that I don't appreciate, ie: PE, Math, Wood shop, basically anything but lunch and art, permanently removed, leaving the empty classrooms open for the animals.
  10. Make all the empty class rooms into animal enclosures for my viewing pleasure.
So that is basically all I would do. And all that probably would only cost like 3 mil at the most! So that would leave me like....um...12 mil? Maybe outlawing Math wouldn't have made such a difference, obviously it didn't help.

This day in History...

Yesterday I didn't even bother with the "This Day In History" thing cause, come on, it was obvious, happy forth whatever. Today is different however. Today, July 5th, was a VERY important day in history. Sure yesterday was independence day. But today, in 1946........drum roll please....the bikini swimsuit made it's day bu in a Paris fashion show!

Can you imagine if we didn't have this invention?! If we hadn't broken ties with the British yesterday, whatever, we would probably have bad teeth and use weird slang like "snog" and "dust bin", but really how bad could it have been? But what if all the skanks in the world didn't have a ligit excuse to show off their ta-tas in public? What then?

Lets take a look at how ridiculous the first bikinis looked:

I mean come on you can't even see her belly button or cleavage! And on top of that her ribs aren't protruding from underneath her skin...where is the beauty in that? And what's up with the ballet slippers. What not to wear much?

Now lets see the way we do it now:

There we go. It took us 60 years but we finally have a fashionable and sensible suit for our lady friends. Look at how classy she looks as her nothings are barely covered by the sheer fabric. Classy! And I don't even have to say a thing about those ribs! The way you know your healthy/in style is if you can play your ribs like a xylophone. Trust me, I'm an expert. Just look at her, I think I can see the shape of her heart beating in her chest! Classic!

So in closing I'd like to thank the designers who have taken us leaps and bounds away from that ridiculousness that tipped onto the fashion scene back in 1946. I can't imagine if women covered up that way now a days. But when you think of it can you blame them though? WWII had just ended and they needed a good joke to get their minds off it. I'm just glad we have strayed from that notion these days. We have come so far...

Into the night Gypsies...

At work, for some reason, we always act like we are a traveling band of gypsies. Weird I know. Maybe it is because we travel in large groups through the streets of the Hollywood Studios performing for strangers, or maybe it's due to our lax policy regarding personal hygiene, or maybe it's because we are extremely bored. Regardless it happens...daily. Whenever we are standing at step-off waiting to do parade we always end up speaking in accents, making a dance circle and playing make shift instruments from garbage we find around the area. It's sad I know. This is the madness that Block Party has driven us to. Anywho. It is fun to pretend to be poor and spontaneous, throwing all caution and cleanliness to the wind. It sounds magical to abandon all the conveniences of modern living and habitat the streets with a band of bohemians. Recently, however, we had an experience that proved that this notion is not true.

So two days ago, because of extenuating circumstances (ie not my fault), Progress Energy paid our apartment a visit and shut off our power. This was at about 10 a.m. When they came we just so happened to be moving Sarah, our new roommate, into our apartment so there was stuff everywhere.

So we tried to figure everything out with Progress and eventually ($280 later) we got it worked out, however, they couldn't come to turn our power back on until the next day. Awesome. At this point it was about 3 o'clock and our place was a disaster zone. Debris was everywhere and it was going to be pitch black in our apartment soon, which is so not a good combination.

So we tried to get everything situated while we still had light but, faster than we would have liked, night fell. Lemme tell you, spending the night in a dark apartment with no air conditioning, microwave or INTERNET is awful. I was going through withdrawls from the internet thing. We had to go eat at McDonalds just because they have WiFi. I am not even kidding you. The darkness is not fun. I am totally a light person so I was not enjoying myself. Plus I had this diva dog that loves to escape into the darkness and start barking at everything, freaking me out. We didn't even have flashlights. All we had were oil lanterns, which gave off a lot of light, but at the same time set off the smoke detectors about every five minutes. My eyes were so dilated I felt like a bat. Everything was going wrong. It was a freaking sauna but we were afraid to open the windows cause there are about eight species of deadly spiders outside just waiting for a security breech. Then, of course, there was an incident with the glass lantern shattering on the kitchen floor. Lemme give you the equation: Darkness + broken glass + no power for the vacuum = sucky. We finally got to sleep and the next morning, while I was in the shower, they came and turned it back on. It was something I never want to experience again. Evie was traumatized. This whole thing has taught me to 1) trust no one with your bills 2) I could never be a Gypsy for real, I appreciate A/C and the internet too much.

Here are a few pictures chronicling our endeavor:

Here we are in the darkness, Evie was so scared

Although this lighting is great for my bone structure I was not thrilled

Peter was not too excited either

It didn't really phase Sarah...I dunno if she even noticed

Evie learned what fire was

And she burned her tongue...I told you she had a hard night. . . a night of hard lessons learned by all

So that is my obscure connection to the Gypsy lifestyle. It's not for me but all you Gypsies out there I salute you.

* Update: The other night we went to this place called Cafe Tu Tu Tango and we met a real gypsy! Here is the proof!

Drink Up...

At the risk of this blog sounding very hyper-conservative (which I am not) and extremely self-righteous (which I promise I am also not) I am going to write a blog tonight about something that I am SO not a fan of and which is bothering me to no end at the moment. Now as you read this I know you might think that my hatred is due to my conservative upbringing, which is understandable. However, it honestly has nothing to do with that and has all to do with my personal experiences with it. The thing of which I speak is alcohol. I hate it. Almost more than anything else. It is probably in my top three things I hate, definitely in my top ten. Lemme explain why I am feeling this way.

Now lemme first preface this with a couple things. First off, I don't drink. It is definitely not my thing. If you have read any of my other blogs you will know that one of my main focuses in life it to try to be more concious and alcohol is the last thing I need in that fight. Personally, I don't like anything that makes me feel that I am not in control of my thoughts or actions. Secondly, this is totally not a knock on any of my close friends who drink (which is basically 98% of them). It's cool, I don't hold it against you and I love you to death and back.

So lets talk about it. Seeing that I don't drink, it is a huge hinder on my social life sometimes. I cannot think of anything less fun than being the only sober person at a party. Sitting there, trying to have an intelligent or even remotely meaningful conversation with a drunk person is futile. They have the attention span of a six year old whose mom forgot to pack his Aderol in his lunch box. Trying to get them to do anything or go somewhere is even worse, like herding cats. I guess I am just frustrated because it seems like recently, the entire focus of many of my friend's lives revolves around drinking. I don't see why we can't enjoy each other without alcohol as a filter. Why is an event considered boring if there isn't booze involved. My thoughts are, why go anywhere fun and drink because you won't enjoy or even remember the experience anyway?

One example is a party I went to recently. It was a going away party of sorts. People were trashed before I even got there. When I arrived I had fun but after a while it got stale. As I sat there and looked around I felt so lonely, like I was the only sane person in the room. I felt so isolated from everyone else because it felt like I was the only person who felt like this about drinking. Everyone else loves it and has a great time stumbling around, embarrassing themselves, then throwing up on the rug in the bathroom (then hiding it because they aren't in a state to clean it up). The other disheartening thing was that as this person was saying goodbye to all the people who came to wish him well, I knew that the next day, he wouldn't even remember the conversation or that that person was even there. Why consciously delete precious memories?

I feel that so many enlightening moments in life come from the most unlikely sources and if you aren't ready to receive them, or if you aren't in a state that you are capable to, that they will be lost to you forever. I just thought of a quote by Martha Graham. It says:

"There is a vitality, a life-force, an energy, a quickening that is translated through you into action and because there is only one of you in all of time, this expression is unique. And if you block it, it will never exist through any other medium and be lost."

I guess I am just sad that anything of depth and passion is being lost to something as vapid as a beverage.

The "Classics"

I have a question to pose to you writers out there. Do you ever feel like you need to write something but you just don't know what? I am overwhelmed with this feeling at the moment and I can't shake it. It is 1:25 am and let's be honest I am tired as hell. High School/Block Party is a long shift and I would love more than anything to lay in bed and sleep right now but I gotta write for just a sec and see what comes out ya know?

So today at High School, one of our singers had her last show. She was offered another contract on property and is leaving starting tomorrow. It was a sad day because I like the girl a lot. She is amazingly talented though so she does need to move on to bigger and better things, as we all do. Anywho. For our/her last show many of our peers came out to support her and show some love. This was great and touching and Disney magic and everything but it made me realize something: I hate performing in front of my peers. Everyday I shake my junk in front of literally hundreds of strangers. Doesn't phase me. But put me in front of three close friends and I choke! It is kinda ridiculous. They were all standing there, front and center and I was freaking out in my head. I ever started getting like nervous jitters. But they did give us energy to get through that last grueling show of the day so I guess it worked in the end.

Speaking of High School, today in the breakroom they turned on Mary Poppins. I know, ridiculous, as if we don't get enough Disney shoved in our face we watch the movies on our breaks. Beside the point. Anywho I was half watching it/half trying to take a nap. I couldn't follow the movie. One second there are abusive parents, the next some lady is flying around making toys dance around, then there were animated penguins, old men it was all over the place. Needless to say I haven't seen it before. Now before you start throwing chairs and yelling calm it down! I already got it from everyone in the break room today. You say one thing like:

"I've never seen Mary Poppins." and the whole room freaks out like I just said "I like to kill babies and small kittens". It's true I'll say it, I've never seen it! What are you gonna do about it!?

Anywho after the verbal assault I sat in my chair and realized there are a lot of "classic" movies that I haven't seen and, frankly, don't plan on seeing. Lets make a list shall we?

Movies Bry doesn't care that he hasn't seen:
        1. Mary Poppins
        2. Annie
        3. Sound of Music
        4. Pride & Prejudice
        5. Oliver & Co.
        6. The Black Cauldron
        7. Dirty Dancing
        8. Shindler's List
        9. Singin' in the Rain
        10. Breakfast at Tiffany's
        11. Top Gun
        12. Psycho
        13. Any of the Godfathers
        14. Pulp Fiction
        15. Forest Gump
        16. The Terminator
        17. Jaws
        18. Gone With The Wind
        19. Some Like It Hot
        20. It's a Wonderful Life

Just to name a few. Some of them I have seen parts of, other I saw more than ten years ago, all of them are too boring to actually sit down and watch. Who has time to watch old movies when there are so many new ones? I know it is blasphemy but I am going to keep living my life without the "classic" films listed above, and I have no intent to change that fact.

Gay Days

This week here at the magical Walt Disney World that we live in there is this festive (to say the least) event happening called Gay Days. For those of you who don't live in the Orlando area lemme explain.

Every year there is a MASSIVE event called Gay Days here in the parks. It is meant to be a week long celebration of diversity and acceptance. Considering that there are many of Cast Members here in the park that choose that lifestyle, it is a highly anticipated event. In theory, it sounds like a positive thing to promote togetherness and unity for members of the gay and lesbian community.

Now I am all about freedom of speech and equal opportunity for everyone. I can honestly say that I want everyone, no matter your religion, skin color, orientation, lifestyle, or opinions to be equal in this world. I may not necessarily agree with everything that some people say or do, but I don't feel it is my right to tell people what they can do or believe in .

However I am kind of irked about some of the things I have been experiencing while working this week and the weeks leading up to this event. The following are simply my thoughts as I have observed some of the conversations that have been happening around me. Please keep in mind I am not anti-anything in my remarks, I am simply trying to get a point across.

As the first week of June began to get closer I started hearing conversations having to do with Gay Days.

"I need to start working out so I can get into shape for Gay Days." I heard someone say as I eavesdropped on a conversation between two people. They then began to explain that they wanted to be in shape so they could hook up with some people during the weeks festivities.

This conversation really frustrated me. The subject of acceptance has been the topic of many conversations I have heard and had when it comes to gay rights. I always hear the never ending debate that, as I stated above and agree with myself, there should be acceptance for people who choose that particular lifestyle. They complain that people have a stereotype in their mind and that they are judged by that cliche. It is hard for me to show sympathy when statements like the one above are made. If the objective of going to an event like gay days is to sleep with as many people as one can, it is understandable that people have a preconceived notion about the lifestyle associated with it the event. It is discouraging to me that an event that is supposed to promote acceptance is, in reality, perpetuating a stereotype.

As this week arrived, my attitude towards what was about to happen was less than positive. All week everyone asks each other,

"What are you doing for gay days?" as if it is a religious holiday like Christmas or something. I just grow weary of the hypocrisy I suppose. There was one conversation I hear last night though that made me feel a little better about the overall attitude of people in this bubble called Disney.

I was in a brush-up rehearsal for a show I rarely do here. It was a monotonous and, in my opinion, pointless waste of time. Most of the run through was spent sitting in the stands of the theater. I sat in the back and listened to the bored conversations of my peers. At one point one boy turned to another and asked the redundant question:

"What are you doing for gay days?"

"Nothing. It's not really my thing." The other boy simply stated.

"What do you mean "It's not your thing". Being gay isn't your thing?" At this point another boy sitting next to the conversation joined in with by responding for the boy who was being questioned.

"Maybe there is more to his personality than being gay. Maybe he doesn't have to concentrate on one small piece of his life. There is more to him than being gay." I was really impressed by that answer. What he said was so profound to me. It goes deeper than being gay, it pertains to anything in life. When you take a small part of your personality and magnify it to the point it becomes your entire personality that is where the problem lies. Why choose a small part of who you are and let it consume you when who you are is so much deeper?

I guess I am just annoyed by the complaining. I was reading a letter to the editor yesterday that actually went right along with what I have been contimplating about. It is by Aaron Hicklin and the one quote that really summed up what I was feeling said:

"I don't want anyone to think of my sexuality as exceptional, for better or for worse; in fact, I'd rather they didn't think of it at all."

I feel that things would be a lot easier for people if they would just be rather than identifying solely with a particular aspect of their life. I am not even speaking about the gay thing anymore. I feel it applies to anything in life.

Anywho, I am sorry for the rant. I just get so disheartened by the things people do and say sometimes. I see their sadness and wish I could help them, but I can't because you can't help someone who doesn't want to be helped.
